Where Do We Start?

Purchasing a Splinter Creek homesite is a fun and thrilling adventure – from figuring out your favorite views to anticipating what long, lazy days by the lake will feel like. But the question we get asked most often after a lot is purchased is, "Where do we start?"

The building process can be overwhelming for some people. Splinter Creek offers a turnkey design option for residents.

What is the design process like, what about a contractor, questions on square footage, site selection, and on. That answer varies greatly from family to family, but we have options to help make the home design and building process as easy and seamless as possible.

For residents looking for a turnkey experience, Splinter Creek offers a license of our East Cove Concept House, designed by Lang Architecture. The base plan for this 2,200-square-foot modern lake house provides the buyer with a complete document of detailed design drawings, specifications, and material choices. Upgrades and various finishes options are available. Once the plans are licensed, they can be easily modified or customized to fit the needs of individual homeowners.

Another option is to work with a reputable prefab company, such as Lindal Cedar Homes. With Lindal, all of the parts of the house are manufactured in the Lindal factory, labeled, and shipped to a Splinter Creek homesite.

Clients can select a plan from Lindal's library of plans or they can personalize any Lindal plan (photo courtesy of Lindal).

Lindal's post and beam homes can be adapted to any building site for any climate and topography. Their kit offers sustainable components that allow for easy design changes including windows, doors, walls, and roof design. With Lindal homes, clients can select a plan from their library of plans or they can personalize any Lindal plan. (Clients can also work with with the Lindal design team to design a custom home if they wish).

For some residents, like the owners of Seldom Seen at Splinter Creek, finding their own architect and designing a custom home is the right choice (photo by Erin Austen Abbott).

Residents may also choose to work with their own architect and builder of their choosing. No matter which route you go, Splinter Creek offers a building experience that is right for each individual owner. Just as each of our lots has its own distinctive character, all of the Splinter Creek structures in our community are as unique as the people who call them home.
