Splinter Creek in Garden & Gun

Splinter Creek Staff

Greetings, from Splinter Creek! This spring brings several exciting updates from the property, including a feature in the April/May issue of Garden & Gun and a recent mention in The Wall Street Journal.

Garden & Gun features an interview with Splinter Creek owner Ellen Leake and Drew Lang of Lang Architecture about the inspiration for the property’s home design in an article titled “Lake District.”

Garden & Gun contributor Vanessa Gregory writes: “And so began Splinter Creek, a twenty-six lot community that blends the Leakes’ love of place with their regard for modern design. Hiking trails lace the forest, and spring-fed lakes, so clear they’re nearly Alpine blue, beckon paddlers and swimmers. Instead of chopping the land into pieces, architects drew lot lines that follow creeks and coves, and designed a dreamy plan of light-filled homes nestling into the natural topography.”

Additionally, in a piece focused on second homes, The Wall Street Journal explores the trend among college alumni purchasing game-day dwellings close to their alma mater.

WSJ writer Amy Gamerman reports: “Spotting an untapped market, developers have begun targeting well-heeled alumni. Splinter Creek, a new lakefront community with homes priced from $850,000 to $1.5 million outside Oxford, Miss., has pursued graduates of nearby University of Mississippi with full-page ads in its alumni magazine and launch parties timed to coincide with big home football games.”
