Save the date for Thursday, June 15, for a book party celebrating John T. Edge. Come out to Splinter Creek for fun, food, drinks and a discussion of Edge's new book, The Potlikker Papers: A Food History of the Modern South.
John T. Edge is an award-winning food writer and director of the Southern Foodways Alliance. This event celebrates the The Potlikker Papers and concludes Edge's multi-city book tour.
The Potlikker Papers is a people’s history that reveals how Southerners shaped American culinary identity and how race relations impacted Southern food culture over six revolutionary decades. The Bitter Southerner writes: “This is not just a history of Southern food; it also stands as a singularly important history of the South itself.”
Donations to the Oxford School District Summer Meal Program are encouraged. The Summer Meal Program provides all area children a chance to receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch when the regular school year ends. Suggested donation $25.
Square Books will have The Potlikker Papers for sale on location (cash only).
Come to Splinter Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15. Splinter Creek, 484 County Road 343, Taylor, MS 38673.
