We're excited to share some of our favorite new places, events, and ideas this month, including a capsule house, historic double decker bus tours of local architecture, a new favorite lunch spot, and an outdoor monthly fall concert series.
1. Capsule House
Would you or wouldn't you: capsule house? The Volferda pre-fab capsule house, manufactured in China, is an eco-friendly solution that could be used as a full-time residence, guest accommodations, work spaces or studio. They are flexible and cost effective and we could see them working with the Splinter Creek landscape. Tell us, would you try out a capsule house?
2. Double Decker Bus Tours
Imported from England to Oxford in 1994, the Double Decker buses are icons in the City of Oxford. Visit Oxford offers public bus tours with local historians on Fridays before home football games. The tour guides provide a trip through history, visiting points of interest on the University of Mississippi campus and around the City, including William Faulkner historic sites. Tours last approximately one hour and the cost is $10 per person. Tours begin and end at Visit Oxford’s office located at 1013 Jackson Avenue East. To reserve your spot, please call 662-232-2477.

Stokes, an Oxonian by birth, is classically trained in both French and Italian styles, and is influenced by Old World cooking, Southern classics, and the idea that the best way to get to know someone is to break bread with them. Panino Veloce is located at 1611 Jackson Ave. West, and is open Wed-Sun from 11-2 p.m.

The City of Oxford this fall is hosting Third Thursday Music in the Park, beginning on Thursday, Sept. 21 from 5-7 p.m. The newly finished pocket park is located between City Hall and Square Books Jr. and features bistro tables and a small fountain.
