Once the calendar flips to November, it's time to put away the pumpkins and focus on the holiday season. Oxford boasts a vibrant historic Square and shopping district as well as a local arts scene. Keep the focus on shopping local and supporting the small businesses and artists close to Splinter Creek.
1. Tunes Around Town
Stop and enjoy free live music on Fridays of football season for a celebration of the Oxford music scene. The next round of small concerts is Friday, Nov. 5 from 5-7 p.m. at the following locations:

2. Oxford's Holiday Open House
Participate in Oxford's Holiday Open House on Sunday, Nov. 7 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for special holiday shopping hours, holiday gift ideas, kids holiday crafts, special giveaways, a holiday gift basket raffle, holiday music, hot chocolate, cookies, and more. Sponsored by the Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce.
3. Holiday Jolly Holiday Market
Visit Oxford is creating a winter wonderland at the Old Armory Pavilion with a real ice rink, special events, carriage rides, and holiday arts and craft markets. As part of the holiday experience, pop-up holiday markets are being hosted on Saturday, Dec. 4th and 11th from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Families coming to skate will be able to stroll and shop from vendors offering art, crafts, baked goods, jams and jellies to complete those unique finds to complete their holiday shopping.
4. Holiday Ornament Auction
The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council hosts its annual Holiday Ornament Auction fundraiser Friday, Dec. 10 at the Old Armory Pavilion. All ornaments are created by local artists and the sales help support programming for the Arts Council.
