Celebrate Summer

Memorial Day weekend always feels like a kick-off celebration of the summer that lies ahead, and summer 2023 is going to be a special one at Splinter Creek. Several families are putting the finishing touches on their houses and moving in for the season. The lakes will be livelier and the trails filled with more explorers. In the spirit of ushering in a new season and chapter at the property, here's a look back at some of the ways we have welcomed summer in years past.

In Sounds Like Summer, we shared some of our favorite quotes about the season to get into the summer spirit, including this one, credited to Henry James: "Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language."

In A Kid's Guide to Splinter Creek (by a kid), we asked a 4-year-old what she loved best about summer days at Splinter Creek. "Ooh look, daisies. Let's pick some. I'm going to make a bouquet. The first thing I want to do is dip my feet in the water. Then I want to have a picnic. I’ll find a good picnic spot for us," she told us.

In So Much to Love, we asked Splinter Creek residents what they were most looking forward to about their future lake houses. The family moving into the new house on Old Cedar Cove this month shared this: "We are thoroughly looking forward to spending our first summer in our new home at Splinter Creek and dreaming of gatherings with family on our screened in porch -- watching the kids and their cousins play by the lake and stargazing at night. The features we are most excited about in our home are all of the windows and bringing nature into our living space."

In Bring on Summer, we shared some of our favorite photos of hiking, fishing, swimming, boating or entertaining friends while watching the pink evening light fade away from our summer gallery. We love to picture ourselves on the property and invite you to do the same!
