Happy Spring from Splinter Creek!

In addition to warmer weather, more daylight hours, and hikes around the lakes, Oxford really starts to bustle in April. Here are three local events you might enjoy.

1. Grove Bowl Weekend, April 5-7
The Grove Bowl, the Rebel football team's annual intrasquad scrimmage, is set for Saturday, April 6 at 3 p.m. at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Admission is free. Other Ole Miss Athletics events include the baseball squad's series with Florida and the men's tennis team's doubleheader against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Find more information and the full schedule of events here.

2. Oxford Square Alliance Spring Open House, Saturday, April 13
Celebrate spring with sidewalk sales across the Oxford Square, as well as free Easter Bunny pictures and children's art activities on the Courthouse lawn. The open house is held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Find more information here.

3. Double Decker Arts Festival, April 26-27
Named for the antique double decker bus the city of Oxford imported from England in 1994, the Double Decker Arts Festival started as a small gathering with a bed of a pickup truck serving as the music stage. It has grown over the last 24 years into a two-day celebration of food, music and the arts that attracts more than 60,000 people. This year the music headliner is Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. Find full music and art vendor information here.

In addition to the music, the Double Decker festival features nearly 200 art and food vendors, along with a 5K race and 10K family fun run.
